CotopaxiPungo is not inside Cotopaxi National Park: it is 16 km from the north entrance. The Finca Hotel was declared a Zona Segura (safe zone) by the Rumiñahui municipal government on 10 October 2017, based on the IG-EPN and IGM volcanic hazard map of June 2016.
By car

Do I need a 4x4 to get there?
The final section is cobbled and its condition can change after rain. Before travelling, ask the hotel about current access and whether your planned vehicle is suitable.
How does the altitude affect me?
The finca is at high altitude. Hydrate, rest on arrival and avoid strenuous activity while acclimatising. If you have a medical condition, consult a healthcare professional before travelling.

Does the finca welcome children?
Yes, CotopaxiPungo welcomes children. Before booking, ask which activities are operating and about the rules for the pool and other spaces.
Is CotopaxiPungo Finca Hotel in a safe area?
Yes. A certificate from the Municipal Government of Rumiñahui confirms that the Finca Hotel is located in a safe area according to the regional Cotopaxi potential volcanic hazard map published by IG-EPN and IGM in June 2016. This certification refers to that map and does not replace current bulletins about the volcano's status.
Is there a lift or accessibility for guests with reduced mobility?
The property has no lift and several levels are connected by stairs. Contact the hotel before booking to describe your requirements and receive information about the most suitable room and spaces.
What should I consider if I arrive at night?
The final section is cobbled and may be less clear at night. Share your estimated arrival time, use the official Google Maps pin and request updated directions from the hotel.
